Celebrity musicians joined forces this week to raise awareness about Pakistan's flood victims. Pop, R&B, hip-hop, country, and rock artists united their voices to paint “a rainbow of hope” over a country devastated by water. One hundred percent of the song earnings will go directly to the Wade With Me Foundation, which partners with other nonprofits to rebuild schools in flood-ravaged communities.
The single, “Wade with Me,” whisks listeners around the globe and into the midst of flood survivors. Surging rhythms recreate the survivors' initial race against rising water. The song's piercing lyrics issue a child's invitation of friendship on a long journey. His destination is unknown, but he does not want to travel alone. Lines such as “wash away the house, the food, the ground/ but I still stand” capture human resilience in the face of tragedy.

Soulful harmonies shed new light on the classic refrain, “Wade in the water,” kindling empathy in a disaster-saturated world. On the bridge, the rousing chorus of voices pledge their solidarity with Pakistani men, women, and children: “We will wade (sister and brother) / We will stand (mother and father) / Together, we will rebuild our land.” Compassion-infused lyrics such as these command a response. Visit www.WadewithMe.org for a list of powerful ways to spread the message of hope.
